The web resource of SeqBag - Compact Collection of Sequence Analysis Tools (http://seqbag.ibibiosolutions.com) offers a collection of several tools dedicated to basic sequence analysis. SeqBag is capable of carrying out sequence analysis for both protein and nucleotide sequences. This tool has been designed with seven modules which include calculation of DNA Properties, Protein Properties, Restriction Analysis, EST Analysis, Sequence Alignment, SIX Reading Frame and Pattern Finder. The various protein properties that can be calculated include composition, molecular weight, length, protein volume, hydropathy values, optical density and extinction coefficient. For the purpose of carrying out the sequence analysis of nucleotide sequences, seqbag is capable of finding properties such as GC% and AT%, molecular weight, composition, melting temperature, complementary sequences, reverse complementary sequences and reverse of a DNA sequence. Its functions have also been extended to find the restriction cut sites in a nucleotide sequence. Pairwise alignment for both type of sequences (nucleotide or protein), can also be performed using seqbag. Studying specific patterns in a sequence, hence providing information of what domains or motifs might be coded by the given sequence is possible by using this tool. It converts the query (DNA or RNA) sequence to amino acid sequence using genetic code and shows the six possible reading frames of the query Nucleotide sequence. This resource compiles the most frequently required sequence analysis tools, hence, making research work less tedious.
